[x]Moscow Journal
Video Art Documentary
Year of production: 1995
Erich Busslinger’s „Moscow Journal“ is an experimental snap-shot
of every day life in the Russian metropolis of Moscow. Equipped with a
simple Hi-8 video camera, he explored MoscowÂ’s streets, markets,
museums and downtroden areas in the middle of nowhere in an urban
wilderness. With his unique camera and editing technique he gives us an
insight into his view of Moscow. It is an affectonate, ironic and
sometimes biting game playing with the well-known clichées concerning
Russia. With his work we are given an excellent example of someone who
has ventured to make a city portrait that pays homage to the „Man with
a Movie Camera“ by Dziga Vertov. (EXPERIMENTAL, 1995 Heinz Nigg,
Zürich).
