Gadi Marcus, the son of the former Rabbi of Berne, is 18 years old
when he and his family emigrate to Israel. Joining the army is a duty;
refusing to serve is out of the question. Gadi becomes an officer. In
the street battles of Ramallah he tries to hold on to his humanity. "If
I were a Palestinian, I would stand here and throw stones too.
Otherwise they will never get their own state. When his military
service is over, Gadi drops out. In the film he is on his way back:
from deep-sea diving in the Caribbean, via Switzerland and Germany, to
Israel. A reunion with the country for which Gadi feels responsible.
Now, right before his eyes, a wall is being built.
This film
is not about explaining the conflict in the Middle East, but about one
participants struggle to "change something. A film about an officer
who teaches his soldiers to hold their fire.
