Gadi's Middle East conflict
The family of the Rabbi of the Jewish Community of Bern moved to Israel in 1996: father Marcel, now a bookseller in Jerusalem; mother Jana, who plants trees in the spirit of Theodor Herzel; son Nathan, ex-soldier and student in NYC; son Gadi, ex-officer in the Israeli army and now a diving instructor in the Caribbean; son Raphael, soldier.
The family was already known in Bern for its liberal, critical spirit. How does this attitude carry over into their current living situation?
Gadi spent 4 1/2 years in the Israeli military, most recently in charge as a captain at the Zomet Ayosh checkpoint in Ramallah. How has he come to terms with this time, after a year in the Caribbean? What possibilities for development does the State of Israel offer him?
