Hacienda del Teatro
"The collage-like narrative style of the documentary by Reinhard Manz, Matthias Rebstock and Daniel Ott is its strength. The play and the work on it as well as the troupe of actors and the place where they live are interconnected on so many levels that some of it would be lost differently of presentation. But as it is, it all fits together: the military dictatorship in Argentina, because of which Brie fled to Italy in 1974, and which he deals with in the Iliad,
the close living together in the hacienda, where costumes are made and bread is baked at the same time, where the washed laundry hangs in front of the house and the prints of the scene photos are left to dry. The actors and ultimately the play seem to draw their strength from the mixture of life and experience, everyday life and staging. Because the film takes its time, it draws an impressive character portrait simultaneously of the Iliad and of the actors."
