Hansmartin Siegrist

Since completing his studies (German Philology, English Philology, art history, licentiate in 1980 and doctorate in film theory in 1986), the AV producer/realiser and university lecturer. Hansmartin Siegrist has remained active in teaching and research: at the University of Basel (1981-2001 German Seminar, 2002-2021 Seminar for Media Studies), at the Basel School of Art and Design (1995-) and as a guest lecturer at various training institutions for film and media; he also appears as a regular speaker at specialist conferences and in art-house cinemas.

His main occupation is producer, realiser and consultant for audiovisual commissioned productions for industry, administration, NGOs and cultural institutions. He was programme director at the former TV studio of Ciba-Geigy (later Allcomm, 1987-1993) and co-owner of the AV production company Visavista AG (1993-2023) and member of point de vue (2012-)
He produced/realised several hundred programmes in over fifty countries. Author of academic and feuilleton publications on cultural, media and film historical topics, he has recently also written artist monographs and also co-curated exhibitions at the Kunstmuseum Thun and the Museum Tinguely Basel. His latest major work is the cinema documentary Lichtspieler - Wie Lavanchy-Clarke die Schweiz ins Kino holte, a documentary biopic on the earliest Swiss film.
